Write the vision, make it clear

I love this time of year. It’s a time when we reflect on the many blessings as well as the hardships of the previous year and then cast vision for what’s ahead. It’s a clean slate, a fresh page, and a new beginning. I’ve been changing things over the past few years, and instead of running straight into the new year with all my goals and resolutions ready, I have been implementing the practice of starting the year with a fast to seek God. After all, what good is all of my best efforts to make plans if He isn’t breathing on them? So often we lack vision, because we don’t ask God for it. Friend, God desires to speak to you. He wants to give you wisdom, revelation, and vision for your life. He has a purpose for you beyond what you could think or imagine… but we must seek Him to know what that vision is.

I want to challenge you this January to join me in a 21-day fast. You can start today, or pick a day that works best for you. Do some research for yourself through the Word on the benefits of fasting and let it stir your faith! Fasting opens the windows of heaven over your life, increases your ability to hear from God, and accelerates answered prayers in your lives! Not only that, but by denying the flesh, we become more like Jesus. It tenderizes our hearts and makes us more aware of His presence in our lives. Ask God what He would have you fast, and then make a plan and follow through. It’s as simple as that!

Fasting is only one part of it, the most important part is to spend more time throughout your fast in the Word and in Worship, journaling, reading books, and growing in Christ. Instead of scrolling on social media, choose something that will produce fruit instead. Instead of turning on the tv, play worship music instead and focus your attention on Him. Let’s start this new year off by giving God our best. Giving him our mornings, our evenings, and our days.

And then expect him to show up. Expect him to give you vision. And when he does, write the vision and make it clear. (Habakkuk 2:2) and get your hopes up to see Him show up and move in power in your life.

Psalm 81:10 “I am the LORD thy God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: OPEN THY MOUTH WIDE and I will fill it”.
