S.O.S. to the Church from Parents of Teens

Dear Church Leaders and Pastors,

This world is messy. Our children are confused. Where are you?

We need you! We need your voice–– to lead, guide, and direct us in our parenting. To show us the ways of the Lord. We need your leadership; we need your direction; we need biblical truth. Point us to scripture. Point our children to the ways of God and not the world. Help us cling to Him––His promises, His truth.

Our babies are living in a world where their peers identify as cats and bring cat litter boxes to school. I am not in any way poking fun at these individuals; my heart hurts for them. Their behavior is indicative of needing a Savior, and we hold the answer to their confusion.

Church, our children are searching. They don’t know what to believe. The messages they are facing are loud, confusing, and difficult. Lines are being blurred, and the truth is being stretched. We can speak light and truth over them, but it's powerful when it comes from you as well. The more voices our children hear speaking consistent messages of truth the more powerful the impact.

Church, we need you to take a stand. We need you to address gender confusion. That when God created these beautiful children, He didn’t make a mistake. God was purposeful in creating them. They were fearfully and wonderfully made on purpose, and we don’t have the authority to choose what gender we wish to be. That in the midst of the confusion about who they are, they need to be confident that there was a Creator who made them in His image. They are image-bearers of the Highest God, and they must learn and accept this truth from the home and the church.

We need you to clarify marriage. That marriage is meant for a man and a woman. That in the garden God was intentional about creating men and women for the purpose of bringing forth the family. The enemy is attacking the family unit.

We need you to speak up against and hold the line in regards to the grooming and sexualization being done to our children. Our children are the target of attack. The enemy wants to build a state of confusion, distort the truth, and distract them from living out the calling God has placed over their lives.

We can love individuals through their hurt and pain without compromising biblical truth. We are all sinners; we fall short every single day, but at the end of the day we are called to serve one God, THE only God. Why is the church compromising gospel truth for worldly validation? We fill the seats but speak nothing of sanctification, the process of becoming holy, turning away from sin and becoming more like Jesus.

In a world where sexual orientation and gender have become an idol, I believe it is the church’s responsibility to bring light to the confusion. To come alongside parents, partner with us, and hold fast to what is biblical, righteous, holy, and true.

The salvation of our children is at stake. How tragic would it be for them to reach heaven one day only to hear the words, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers.’

It’s been said Gen Z is by far the most unchurched generation thus far. Parents bring their children to church in hopes that their children will be given biblical guidance and direction. In their world, prayer, the Bible, and Jesus are being taken out of their schools and Satan has been given the green light to enter in. How do they overcome these messages if the only place they are hearing the truth is from their parents? We are trying our best but we need backup.

Why are you so silent? Jesus wasn’t silent about sin. In fact, he hung out with sinners but he didn’t camp there with them in their sin. No, he said, “Go and sin no more.”

I’m not saying all churches have remained silent. Kudos to the ones who have taken a stand and will not allow the world to have access to the identity of our children. Thank you. I see you and I am grateful.

We have kingdom work to do, Church. We need your help. Our children need you. It’s time to rise up!

In Him,

Trudy Lonesky
